Careers in Biological Anthropology Careers in museums and government agencies Graduate programs Jobs News Submission & input News and Announcements Job ad Graduate program Volunteer! -- Physical anthropology is a biological science that deals with the adaptations, variability, and evolution of human beings and their living and fossil relatives. Because it studies human biology in the context of human culture and behavior, physical anthropology is also a social science. The AAPA is the world's leading professional organization for physical anthropologists. Formed by 83 charter members in 1930, the AAPA now has an international membership of over 2,200. The Association's annual meetings draw more than two thousand scientists and students from all over the world. June 13, 2020 On Wednesday June 10, 2020 the grassroots initiatives #ShutDownSTEM and #ShutDownAcademia called for a day-long strike acknowledging the racism that our African American colleagues experience in the academy. The AAPA encouraged members to use the day to educate ourselves about the Black experience, learn ways to interrupt racism , and contribute to an authentic culture shift in academia that extends beyond the day's actions. In addition, we used our web page platform to center the voices of our African-American members through this forum. We will continue to leave this channel open for you to share your feedback with the AAPA leadership. CLICK HERE TO SHARE YOUR VOICE . It will be heard.
